Barrnon has been named Engineering Manufacturer of the Year at Insider Media’s Made in the North West Awards 2026, recognising the company’s achievements in engineering, robotics and advanced manufacturing.
The awards celebrate the strength of manufacturing across the North West, recognising businesses demonstrating innovation, investment, technical excellence and growth. Barrnon was announced as the winner at the awards ceremony held at the Titanic Hotel in Liverpool on 1 October, following a competitive shortlist that also included R&B Switchgear Group and Mettler-Toledo Safeline.
The award reflects Barrnon’s work developing and manufacturing specialist systems for some of the most challenging environments in nuclear decommissioning, combining robotics, specialist tooling, machine building, software and in-house manufacturing capability.
Barrnon was also recognised twice in the Product Innovation of the Year category, with both the BIDS robotic control system and Barrnon Scabbling System reaching the shortlist.
As a regional category winner, Barrnon will now progress to Insider Media’s national Made in the UK Awards 2026, where winners from the regional Made in Awards compete on the national stage. The final will take place on 19 November at the Science and Industry Museum in Manchester.
The recognition is a fantastic achievement for the whole Barrnon team and reflects the breadth of engineering, innovation and manufacturing capability being delivered from Cumbria to customers across the UK and internationally.
